Premonition

Premonition

By Vladislav Petković Dis

The sky is ominous, hollow, bleary;
The gloomy day obscures the glow,
Colours, eye; and the stupor dreary,
Peace and horror around me reign so.

In the country, over trees, hovers
Ugly autumn; bare boughs are still.
And blackness sorrowfully covers
The bark, time, minutes and the hill.

Pain has abated; mist and streams
Carry thoughts…desires hide too;
Images dark, yet as pale as dreams,
Suggest that a man will fall through!

I feel sleepy. May my body be laid
In lifeless gloom that surrounds me.
May all that has never been fade
Into that soul, anguish and agony,

May it all fade and may the grey haze
Enshroud it all; may oblivion and frost
Beautiful moments and love glaze.
And may everything sink and be lost.

Slutnja

Nebo mutno, izdubljeno, kobno;
dan ubijen pritisnuo boje,
svetlost, oko; i mrtvilo grobno,
mir i strava oko mene stoje.

Kroz prirodu, preko drva, ružno
jesen ide; gole grane ćute.
I crnilo obavilo tužno
koru, vidik, vreme i minute.

Bol klonuo; magla i bregovi
nose mis’o…i želje se kriju;
tamne slike, blede kao snovi,
šušte propast, ko bi znao čiju!

Spava mi se. Još da legne telo
u taj sumor, mrtav, što se vije.
U tu dušu, u ropac, opelo,
da potone sve što bilo nije,

da potone… i da magle sinje
obaviju: na časove bone
i na ljubav da popada inje
i zaborav… I da sve potone.
