Solace

Solace

By Vladislav Petković Dis

Thought fades, wanes and disappears,
In the valley of tears, where hope sinks,
Where sufferings dwell and shed are tears,
Where the wheel of woes clatters and clinks.

As thought is asleep, peaceful and weak,
Love glides on the wings of darkness,
And carries with it a broken lyre antique,
And runs, drifts through my lonesomeness.

Like an echo of joy, with no voice and sound,
Thru secret dreams strives towards the height,
Like a dawn airily floats the skies around,
Like an eve wanes and fades into the night.

As her trace remains, an image appears:
A sky, as blue and bright as her eye,
A glance that speaks, consoles, cheers,
Grasps and loves, and looks on high.

I feel the souls, both hers and mine, oh
Which, eternal, abide in a certain smile,
In a certain space and in time distant so
Which comes and whispers solace the while.

Uteha

Misao se gubi, nestaje i tone
u dolini plača, gde se nada kupa,
gde stradanja žive, gde se suze rone
i gde točak patnji klopara i lupa.

I dok miso spava, klonula, u miru,
izvija se ljubav na krilima noći,
i sa sobom nosi razlupanu liru,
i kreće se, lebdi po mojoj samoći.

Kao eho sreće, bez šuma i glasa,
preko tajnih snova visinama stremi,
kao zora nebom zračno se talasa,
kao veče u noć gubi se i nemi.

I trag joj ostaje, i slika se stvara:
Nebo plavo, vedro, kao njeno oko,
pogled koji priča, teši, razgovara,
pojima i voli i gleda duboko.

Ja osećam dušu i svoju i njenu:
Obe, večne, stoje na jednom osmehu,
na jednom prostoru, u dalekom vremenu,
koje katkad stupa i šapće utehu.
