Contribution: My Sun

Contribution: My Sun

By Branko Radičević

In the sky, a sun shines on me,
By day it glares, by night it hides,
Thou art, father, my other sun
That for me never sets or hides.

I used to have another one,
Its ray has long been gone,
Mother’s heart now still stays,
Dark earth covers her remains,
Thou and little brother’s all, woe!
That I was left with long ago.

My heart is filled with rhyme,
To bless your heart sublime;
It cannot be, nor will it ever be,
For feeble is the poet’s plea.

Your deeds, like the sun’s power,
My songs, like a fragrant flower;
The sun shines and life it breathes,
A flower smells, but nothing breeds.

Moje sunce

Na nebu mi jedno sunce sjaje,
danju sjaje, a noću zalazi,
ti si, otac, moje drugo sunce,
koje meni nikad ne zalazi.

Nekada sam imô jošte jedno,
zrak je njegov već odavno sednô,
majci srce u grudi ne bije,
tavna zemlja nju odavna krije,
ti i bratac, to je sada sve
štono osta srcu mom od pre.

O, moje srce pevanjem se žari,
i tebi misli s tim da blagodari;
o ne mož’ biti, ne mož’ nikad ovo,
jer slabačko je vrlo peva slovo.

Tvoja dobra, kao sunca svet,
moji pevi, kâ mirisni cvet;
Sunce sjaje, sunce život šalje,
cvetak miri, ali ništa dalje.
