In Kalemegdan Park

In Kalemegdan Park

By Vladislav Petković-Dis

A hot July day departs, weary quite.
With a loud and merry hum of leaves
A breeze heralds the descent of night.
As dusk falls, the passionate heaves
Of a happy world come, too.
You walked the park thro’.

Your attire was soft as moonlight,
A smile on your face bold and bright,
In your hair darkness slept tight,
A hat on your head fancy and white.
Thro’ the din, by me
You passed in glee.

I beheld you with a stare dead for you.
Wonderful you were. I felt not tho’
A desire to love you or a need true
To hug th’ day of my eyes, or any woe,
Or an autumnal melody,
Or the pain inside of me.

A hot July day departs, weary quite.
And as the hum of leaves louder grows
There comes peace, darkness and night.
The serene night sinks in quiet repose.
But, the pain I cannot deter…
Wonderful you were.

Na Kalemegdanu

Dan julski i vreo umoran odlazi.
Uz šuštanje lišća razdragano, glasno,
Javljaju lahori da veče dolazi.
S njim i suton ide, i šaptanje strasno

Kraj mene, kroz graju
Prošla si u sjaju.

Pogledom te gledah za tebe umrlim.
Ti si divna bila. Ne osetih tada
Želju da te volim, potrebu da grlim
Dan mojih očiju. Nit osetih jada,
Il’ pesme jeseni,
Il’ bola u meni.

Dan julski i vreo umoran odlazi.
I dok šušti lišće sve više i više
Tame, mraka, mira po parku dolazi.
To noć u spokojstvu tišinom miriše.
A bol širi krila…
Ti si divna bila.
